might be added the modern supplement that woman accepted cooking as a chore

My Winning Ticket:

*****
I bought myself an umbrella to brighten up this side of my house.
It matches, makes me smile and reminds me of
a circus or fun place. Sometimes just adding a little something
can touch it up or bring it all together.

It's hard to see but on the right near the ground is a birdhouse.
It too is white with a black roof and has glass windows.
It was made for me by a man who was
remodeling our house. I was only 5 years old.

Don't forget that kindness is always remembered!

Praise for Under My Roof:

"Under My Roof is a brave, compelling and necessary story of one mother's attempt to protect her daughter in an era before there was real help available. We have very few accounts of incest from the perspective of the mother, and Emalou King has given us a heartbreakingly honest book that takes us through the suffering and into healing. This story will be supportive for all mothers whose children have been abused; for all survivors of abuse who want to understand more about their mothers, and it should be required reading for every professional who works with families in which incest has taken place."

Saturday, 6/16/12 Foreword Excerpt:

" Parents, teenagers, teachers, clergy, counselors and people in law enforcement would surely benefit from reading this book. Conversational in style, Under My Roof gets under the skin as well as startling and moving the heart. I found this story gripping and the book difficult to put down. I have and pray Under My Roof has a wide readership."
Taken from the foreword by Fr. Patrick J. Dooling - Diocese of Monterey, California

An Excerpt:

Lost in Space was on television when, with an astounding
contraction, my labor started. Forty minutes later another
came like a charley horse in my belly and then at thirty minutes,
during Sea Hunt. When they were a jolting twenty minutes
apart and stronger, I called the base for instructions. We left
the house when Johnny Carson finished his last interview. On
the way my belly tightened into a hard ball, so I blew out my
air and concentrated on my imperfect breath. It was difficult
holding back my sighs but I handled it because I promised...

Declutter and Renewal:

*****

In the morning when I have my coffee I don't just grab any old cup.
I match my mood to the cup...the color inside and out, or the the message .
If it's from Yosemite then maybe I'll think about how much I like it there and use it or the red one because
I'm passionate about some issue of the day!
My coffee cups sort of have a story to them. I am ready to get rid of a few of them.
It's that declutter and renewal bug I have again.
Do you have it?

Over by Home Depot a big blue container says, "Shoes and Clothes."
That's nice because whenever you get into the mood you can empty out your closet,
put them in your car and deliver them to that big box and not worry about a store being open.

Enough about me.  I would love to know if you just grab a cup or you have your favorites.
Let me know in the comment section. If that's a problem then email me.

I gave my book to a woman friend who was molested by her father.
What did you do with yours when you finished reading it?

Sunflowers look happy.  The yellow rows in the fields are beautiful.

Sunflower seeds remind me of my wonderful father.
He loved baseball and was quite good at it.  But, he didn't listen or play a game without
chewing sunflower seeds and spitting out the shells.
This was between swinging his arms, slapping his knee,
banging on the steering wheel and/or cussing!

Happy is :

*****
Here's Happy!

True story:
While I was out walking, a neighbor asked me if I kept walking by her because I didn't want to talk to her.
I said, "no. I am wearing something that measures my steps and I'm working really hard at walking more."
I stop in front of her and move back and forth and back and forth like a boxer and mention sitting too long
yesterday so bumping it up. She said, Where were you at an AA mtg?
I didn't bite on her sarcasm because she loves to push my buttons.
I said I was at someone's home and Our Lady of Fatima statue came there and we
sang and said the rosary, etc.  She says, "Oh, I remember her." "
I prayed for you," I said.
She looks very surprised and thanks me for mentioning her to the Lady!
And, I walk away very happy!
We all have our own interpretation of the word.

Those silly stickers remind me to continually work making someone happy.

Mary, Our Role Model:

*****

What a wonderful experience visiting a home and having
this beautiful statue of Our Lady of Fatima arrive.
I know we see her picture frequently but it's not the same as
being in the same room. There is a such  reverence in her presence.
We said the Rosary in reparation for the sins of the world as
well as many spoken and unspoken intentions.

Our personal intentions were written down and taken back with Our Lady to be
placed at the actual site where she appeared to the children at Fatima.
Later they will be burned and rise to the heavens like a prayer.

A big thank you to Susan Sudjiian for her dedication and devotion
and to her sons Steven and Michael who assisted.

I got a call the other day while I was driving. Without looking other than straight ahead-
I spoke to the speaker in my car...
"Hello."
"It's your mom," the voice said. I giggled.
"It's your mom," she said again.
"I sure wish it... but she's deceased!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I must have the wrong number."
"That's okay. Thanks for calling. I needed that."
It was on my parents anniversary and I was thinking of them.
