Buy a Book, Support a Program:

*****

Fr. Patrick Dooling of Monterey
wrote the foreword to the book written by Emalou King, RN of Soquel.
UNDER MY ROOF ~ A MOTHER'S STORY OF THE HEINOUS CRIME OF INCEST
This book is available now...
Reviews can be read on Amazon and it can
also be ordered from any book store in the country.

It's time to start the conversation about child sexual abuse with others.
This is not a topic anyone wants to talk about, but it might save a life.

The trauma from rape and sexual abuse should not be kept secret or
forgotten. It is helpful to find ways to heal  and share your story.

Proceeds go to the Survivor's Healing Center of Santa Cruz, California.
The most comprehensive program in the country for survivor's of
sexual abuse.

A Living Rosary:

*******

Tonight I was part of a living Rosary.
50 people gathered  seated in a circle with an unlit candle.
As each Hail Mary was said, a candle was lit...then that person lit the next persons
on the next Hail Mary. (And the lights were dimmined)
We said the Five  JOYFUL mysteries:
(Annunciation, Visitation, Birth of Our Lord, Presentation of our Lord
and finding of Our Lord in the Temple)

Between the decades songs were song by Donna Lee, Gretchen Harris,
John Grasadonia and Deacon Patrick Conway.

It was very beautiful and touching.
Held at Resurrection Parish in Aptos.
Sorry if you missed it.

FAITH and SPIRITUALITY are two ways to help in the healing process.

Wednesday, September 29, 1971:

Right at lunchtime,
three minutes past noon to be exact,
I got my boy.
Jimmy was 8 pounds and 3 ounces and 21"-
the largest and loudest baby in the nursery.
He was an angel:
a baby with a head of flaxen fuzz
and big blue eyes.
 I loved him immediately.

What a molester looks like:

NOT LIKE THIS...

NOT LIKE THIS...

NOT LIKE THIS
The molester looks more  like the "boy next door," and the handsome father and neighbor and
distingquished looking teacher and muscled coach and pretty teacher and attractive uniformed.
This means you CANNOT tell by his/her looks.  This is the first mistake.  I took a tour of a prison
while in Nurses Training and had never seen a more collective group of beautiful faces and muscles.
Don't be fooled. Let children know about this #1 fact. Oh and he might also be a really NICE person!

Gratitude:

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

St. Joseph Box:

*******

On Sunday two people will come to my house and remove the beautiful
Statue of the Pilgrim St. Joseph.
He has spent the week here and people in my park community have
stopped by to pray with me. It has been so nice.
In order to complement  the process I made a St. Joseph Box-
like my Mary Box. Prayers are placed in the box. When we say a word it becomes alive and the same happens in prayer when we actually write the words
down, fold the paper and slip it into the box.
The prayer box is sealed when it is full (which it nearly is...) and the box will be burned. So many intentions have been prayed as well as the Rosary and
We have prayed for our parish ~ St. Joseph's Catholic community
of Capitola, California.

I am sure the next family on the list will also enjoy this experience.

Prayer has gotten me through every difficulty I have had in my life.

Feelings of Worth:

Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

The Final Send-off:

*****

As we get older seems to be fewer and fewer wedding and baby showers.
But, I attended two funerals this week.
We are supposed to "bury the dead"
We dress in black, give sympathy cards with memorials and bring food.
No one seems to be comfortable until they have  embraced the grieving family
And there is something peaceful and even humorous during the celebration of their life...
Stories shared by those who loved them dearly.

I also think about all the other people who have died and the list is very long.
Sometimes I ask the question, "why?" because it doesn't make sense.
Life is a mystery...death is a mystery.

I have made new friend  and I have lost old ones.
I have listened to beautiful music
had my heart swell with compassion for the families.
Today I dropped into a deep sleep after arriving home
I drink  plenty of water.
It is easy to become dehydrated.
Grief can be exhausing.

Finding Angela Shelton:

*****

I just finished watching a video that I ordered on line.  It is about a woman who is named Angela Shelton. She goes all over the United States to find and meet other Angela Sheltons' only to really find herself and learn what she is supposed to know. I found it very interesting.

Angela Shelton is an incest survivor. She found that 24 of the 80 Angele's were also molested.
The ending is profound and I do not want to ruin it for those who want to see it.

Thank you Angela Shelton!

Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel::

Have you seen the ad showing two girls chatting on a bed while looking at their cell phones?
Their conversation and  their facial expressions sexualize a big burger!
They have to know what they are doing...

Oops:

As soon as I posted the success of the Baggie filled with water and the pennies to keep flies and wasps away-a wasp appeared. Don't want to be a liar so had to tell you. I think I may have hung this too late and perhaps he's already started something on top of my roof.  Sorry!

Keep Flies and Wasps Away:

Really surprised this works but it does. This is a baggie filled with water and pennies hanging up on the deck. It keeps the flies and wasps away.

Gasp!

I was watching TV when a little skunk walked by the French door. I looked out the back and saw him jump through the gate and wiggle himself under the little deck right behind the cement block!! Oh dear...so glad the dog was in the house.
