Welcome to my blog. This is blog # 415. I think the message that is most important to me today is for everyone to have HOPE...to have it and to share it with others. It is so easy to get down in the dumps or
be negative. If you hang around those types soon you will discover the truth around this statement:
"What you rub up next to, rubs off on you." I learned this in a recovery seminar and have not forgotten
these words.
So, have hope and let it rub off on others. Amen.
Now, off to Adoration.
Welcome to My Blog...When a MOTHER thinks something is amiss...something is amiss. When a MOTHER thinks something is wrong...something is wrong!

The Olympics:
*****
GO USA!
I think the worse part of the Olympics is spreading the news about how many condoms
have been handed out. I can't look at those rings without thinking of that and the jokes made.
It's degrading to these fine athletes and the countries they represent.

For All Who Pray:
Sunday, July 22, 2012
Sunday:
Some days it is difficult to blog. It's not because I can't think of anything, but because I think of everything! I'd like to help remove, dismantle and demolish the statue of what's his face! Down with sexual abuse. Keep it intolerable. Don't turn away. But there is still the other stuff, like... what's happening in the world and the grief, Community runs like the Wharf to Wharf that someday I plan to do, dog rescues, Facebook responses, family photos, blessings vs luck, movies that deserve recognition, good food and special events coming up.
Today, I need a break. A day of rest like God tells us to do. Praise to Him. Amen..

Sorrow in Aurora:
*****
If I could place flowers at the Cinema, I would want this beautiful full rosebush to be front and center. I watched the television without realizing that my face was wet with tears. Our whole country is in mourning again. I am reminded of that prayer that Jesus taught us: "...And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." We remain in prayer for the victims and survivors of this tragedy. |

Change:
******* This store has been a landmark since I moved here. It is at the end of 41st Avenue and usually the fan would be turning... summer, winter, spring or fall. Well, today I drove by and the entire building was gone. The fire trucks surrounded the area this weekend as two other buildings were used in a training and demolished. So get ready for something new and beautiful on our end of town. The same goes for replacing bad thoughts with good ones. Or bad habits with good habits....to go from black and white to color. It's really all about change which is something we can always count on. What changes have you made recently? Are you setting goals? Do you have the strength to persevere? I think you can! |

Our Lady of Mt.Carmel:
***** It was the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel today. Our Church has a statue from the 1800's. Here a mother kneels before the beautiful Mother of Our Lord and prays for the safe return of her son, Shaun. Shaun's web site is: http://www.thelongcourse.com Mothers pray for their children... if you have been molested by your mother I am sorry for this traumatic experience. Oh great Saint whose name we bear, protect us and pray for us so that like you we may serve God in this world and be with HIM in the next. Amen |

Name Tags:
***** This is only a name tag. It doesn't say I am a Catholic living in America. Nor does it say I am a Registered Nurse. It also doesn't tell you that I have a HUGE amount in common with others. Who? Just a haunting thought to me... One out of every 3 girls is molested and 1 out of every 6 boys And they all have mothers and I am the mother of one of those survivors. That leaves thousands of mothers with secrets and in pain. So if you are also one of those mothers, I want you to know that you are not alone. Please seek help. Break your silence. Be a voice for your child. Thank You. |

Mother's of Survivors:
I met a mother of a survivor today.
The connection was immediate.
We had painfully struggled with the witness of our child's trauma.
We both understood one another.
Praise God we can help other mother's who may need our support.
You are not alone if this has happened to one of your children.

Spread the Word:
*** Deborah Allen writer/producer of "JANE -the movie" and Emalou King, RN author of "Under My Roof." A sizzle reel was produced at the Capitola Book Cafe on Tuesday. I was fortunate enough to watch and be an extra in the bookshop scene. We share a passion of telling the story, giving voice to the voiceless and stopping the silence. Hope you go to the site and check on Facebook. www.JANE-themovie.com A smart fifteen-year-old girl embarks on a healing journey after a traumatic sexual assault. Please check it out It can be difficult for some to "like" anything pertaining to the fight against sexual abuse for fear that you may think that it happened in their house or to them or one of the children. We already know that the statistics prove it is 1 out of every 3 girls and 1 out of every 6 boys. If you are unable to help by sharing this information then remember the hard work of the people involved in the project and ask God to bless them for their advocacy. Thank you. |

Thank You:
******* Another donation was received by the Survivors Healing Center of Santa Cruz. It is with great thanks to all those who have purchased the e-book memoir and/or the softcover of "Under My Roof." You have helped someone in their recovery from sexual trauma. Did you know that the SURVIVORS HEALING CENTER is celebrating its 25th Year? You can help us celebrate by donating or passing the word on to someone that help is available in our community. There is also a national hotline number. Last week three molestation stories were told to me in conversations with casual contacts. If you are willing to listen...you will hear them. Amazing things are happening with our voices! Sing praises to God we can turn this around. |

Finding Airline Tickets:
******* One of the things that stresses me out the most is looking for a flight! I spend so much time on the computer and know exactly what I want but have a heck of a time finding it. The Airlines puts me leaving from a different place, landing 50 miles away from my destination. There are no hotel rooms that fit the package deal and a no-car availability. I look and look and look and then get overwhelmed by choices I don't want so I quit. The highest priced flight has now become the newest low price. I should have taken care of this earlier because now I can't find it. I think it's normal to complain once in a while on a blog! I'm doing it. Like a comment made on Facebook...I should pray about it as much as I talk about it. I'll take that advice. I'll try again tomorrow. When I think real stressors I've had in my life...this one barely hits the 0.5 mark |

Law and Order SVU:
***** I am a BIG fan. The reason; when you watch this show, you learn something. It is informative and educational about the involvement of the police and crime labs. It is a difficult show to watch because it's about heinous crimes perpetrated on others. Thank you to Mariska Hargitay and the others who play roles. This is my new "honorary member sweatshirt" showing support for all the good they do. BTW, I have spoken to 3 people affected by a sexual perpetrator this week...all random, just happens to come up in conversation. May we all be a voice for the voiceless. |

Maria Goretti Feast Day:
One of the largest crowds ever assembled for a
canonization—250,000—symbolized the reaction of millions touched by the simple
story of Maria Goretti.
She was the daughter of a poor Italian tenant farmer, had no chance to go to school, never learned to read or write. When she made her First Communion not long before her death at age 12, she was one of the larger and somewhat backward members of the class.
On a hot afternoon in July, Maria was sitting at the top of the stairs of her house, mending a shirt. She was not quite 12 years old, but physically mature. A cart stopped outside, and a neighbor, Alessandro, 18 years old, ran up the stairs. He seized her and pulled her into a bedroom. She struggled and tried to call for help. “No, God does not wish it," she cried out. "It is a sin. You would go to hell for it.” Alessandro began striking at her blindly with a long dagger.
She was taken to a hospital. Her last hours were marked by the usual simple compassion of the good—concern about where her mother would sleep, forgiveness of her murderer (she had been in fear of him, but did not say anything lest she cause trouble to his family) and her devout welcoming of Viaticum, her last Holy Communion. She died about 24 hours after the attack.

She died about 24 hours after the attack.
Her murderer was sentenced to 30 years in prison. For a long time he was
unrepentant and surly. One night he had a dream or vision of Maria, gathering
flowers and offering them to him. His life changed. When he was released after
27 years, his first act was to go to beg the forgiveness of Maria’s mother.
Devotion to the young martyr grew, miracles were worked, and in less than half a century she was canonized. At her beatification in 1947, her mother (then 82), two sisters and a brother appeared with Pope Pius XII on the balcony of St. Peter’s. Three years later, at her canonization, a 66-year-old Alessandro Serenelli knelt among the quarter-million people and cried tears of joy.

Comment:
Maria may have had trouble with catechism, but she had no trouble with faith. God's will was holiness, decency, respect for one's body, absolute obedience, total trust. In a complex world, her faith was simple: It is a privilege to be loved by God, and to love him—at any cost.

To Hell and Back:
******* The whole reason I even do a blog is to get your attention! But I really don't have it yet. 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys are molested. Whether it is one time or hundreds of times... there is trauma. There are places NOW available to help the survivors. And the mother needs to know she's not the only one. How can you help? I am asking you to buy my book to help others. I wish I would have had something to read when I needed it. The royalties from the E-book memoir and the softcover go to the Survivor's Healing Center. There is a copy in the SHC lending library and also at the Soquel Porter Memorial Library in Soquel. Buy a book. Read it. Pass it on. A Voice for the Helpless:
*** My name is Herbie. I will be 7 years old and I am blind. |
I am also afraid of fireworks and loud booms! Have a Happy Fourth of July eating burgers. Right now while writing this on the 2nd of July...my dog just ran and hid in my closet. It was a little fire cracker that went off in the neighborhood and he's scared! It would help if you only shot them off on one day and not every day of the week. It's hard for our animals to settle down and it worries the owners! Thank you! |
